An open letter to the U.S. Senate

Reconsider Alligator Alcatraz, protect Everglades and Indigenous rights

17 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

Alligator Alcatraz is a modern-day Auschwitz. Oppose it. The plan to construct a new prison in the Everglades, dubbed "Alligator Alcatraz," raises significant environmental and ethical concerns that must be addressed. Building such a facility within this fragile ecosystem would undoubtedly disrupt the delicate balance of the region's flora and fauna. Furthermore, the Everglades holds immense cultural and historical significance for the Seminole Tribe and other Indigenous communities, making the location inappropriate for a prison. I urge you to reconsider this misguided proposal and explore alternative sites that do not jeopardize Florida's precious natural heritage or disrespect the rights of Native peoples. There are better solutions that uphold environmental protection and respect for human rights.
