Fight Trump's EPA rollbacks now; restore environmental justice offices & other measures. Air pollution is now universally recognised as harmful to human health. It is a major cause of premature death. Its harm is unevenly distributed, since it's more severe in low income and disadvantaged areas. Read what the European Environment says: "Both short- and long-term exposure to air pollution can lead to a wide range of diseases, including stroke, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, trachea, bronchus and lung cancers, aggravated asthma and lower respiratory infections." "The World Health Organization (WHO) provides evidence of links between exposure to air pollution and type 2 diabetes, obesity, systemic inflammation, Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. The International Agency for Research on Cancer has classified air pollution, in particular PM2.5, as a leading cause of cancer." The effects of air pollution are particularly damaging to children and adolescents. Why on earth would anyone - especially those who claim to be pro-life - want to remove monitoring, regulation, and mitigation of air pollution? Why would anyone want to put profiteering polluters before human health? [ I am outraged to reads that Trump has ordered the closing of the EPAs Environmental Justice offices and intends to loosen regulations about dumping waste water. Please understand and help your colleagues understand that those measures will disproportionately affect residents of red states. Why on earth would anyone want to remove anti pollution measures from Louisiana's cancer alley? Unless they were deliberately trying to harm the lives of certain groups more than others? We all depend on breathing air and drinking water for our existence. Rolling back regulations is cruel, stupid, unjust and in one word, wicked. Please fight these changes with all the measures at your disposal - including first speaking forcefully to condemn them and to share facts about air pollution. Please: no more business as usual. Protect our air and water from this coup.
