Investigate Defense Contractor Corruption, Sen. Susan Collins, and the FBI

As your constituent, I demand an immediate investigation into the serious corruption allegations involving Senator Susan Collins, defense contractor Navatek, campaign contributions, and federal contracts. ProPublica reports that the FBI was actively examining evidence and allegations involving Collins, her staff, and others, and that agents believed the evidence warranted a broader public-corruption investigation. That investigation was then effectively halted after the Trump administration dismantled the FBI and DOJ teams responsible for pursuing it. Congress must investigate both matters. I demand that the Senate Ethics Committee investigate Collins and anyone else implicated by the evidence. Congress must also investigate why the FBI inquiry was stopped, preserve and obtain the underlying records, and determine whether legitimate corruption investigations were improperly obstructed. Campaign money cannot buy federal contracts, and credible allegations of public corruption cannot simply disappear when the investigators pursuing them are removed. Investigate the allegations. Investigate the shutdown of the FBI probe. Preserve the evidence and hold anyone responsible for wrongdoing accountable.
