Cancelled NIH Programs Harm Americans - Take Action

I am your constituent and I want you to see this file. It contains a list of 2900 NIH research programs that were cancelled and the reasons for cancellation. Stat published the story about the cancelled programs. The data comes from Scott Delaney the T. H. Chan school of Medicine at Harvard. I suggest you look at the file. If you download it to a spreadsheet be patient - it takes a few minutes.
148 projects had to do with vaccines. 48 projects dealt with mRNA techniques. 61 projects referenced LGBTQ. 58 projects mention the word “accessible” a code word for anything having to do with race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, etc. 274 programs were related to women’s health.
Medicine is not identical for everyone. People of different sexes, ethnic backgrounds, genetic makeups, ethnicities, and even sexual orientations do not always respond the same way to treatments. The Trump administration cancelled these 2900 programs because they mentioned words like women, mRNA, vaccine or even accessibility. Allowing this politicization of science and medicine will harm your constituents. because doctors won’t have the latest data on how different patients react to treatment. I very strongly urge you to write or call RFK Jr. at NIH and let him know the damage he is doing and then I urge you to build back funding in law that covers the programs cancelled - so it is out of RFK Jr.’s hands. Thank you.
