Medicaid provides vital healthcare coverage to over 72 million low-income Americans, including children, pregnant individuals, people with disabilities, and seniors. It is a cost-effective program that enables access to essential services and supports the financial viability of rural hospitals. Proposals to cap federal Medicaid funding, reduce contributions for the expansion population, or impose strict work requirements, will inevitably restrict access to care for our most vulnerable citizens. Cutting Medicaid to pay for tax breaks benefiting the wealthy is an unacceptable tradeoff that will disproportionately impact lower-income states. I urge you to safeguard this crucial safety net program and reject any measures that reduce Medicaid's funding or coverage.
