The passage of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) to the U.S. Constitution is vital to guaranteeing equal legal rights for all Americans regardless of sex. The ERA will end all legal distinctions between men and women, affirming that "liberty and justice for all" and "equal justice under law" applies to all Americans. 2020 marked the 100th anniversary of the passage of women’s right to vote, the first – and still only – right in the U.S. Constitution that affirms equally for men and women.
I support the passage of the ERA by removing the ERA’s original deadline, supporting the ratification of the ERA in every state, and by promoting gender equality in all future ERA legislation and debates. Let’s make history and declare zero tolerance for sex discrimination. Unless written into the U.S. Constitution, any victories that women have achieved over two centuries are vulnerable to reversal at any time.
