PETITION TO THE GEORGIA GENERAL ASSEMBLY AND GOVERNOR BRIAN KEMP
REGARDING THE JUNE SPECIAL SESSION We, the undersigned citizens of Georgia, call upon Governor Brian Kemp and members of the Georgia General Assembly to ensure that the upcoming special session remains narrowly focused on resolving the ballot QR code issue and does not become a vehicle for unnecessary and partisan redistricting efforts. The special session was announced to address concerns surrounding Georgia’s ballot system and QR code requirements before the upcoming election cycle. However, recent discussions about adding congressional or legislative redistricting to the agenda raise serious concerns among voters across the state. At this time, there is no court order requiring Georgia to redraw its maps. Attempting to introduce redistricting during a rushed special session undermines public trust and risks politicizing a process that should be transparent, deliberate, and driven by legal necessity — not political opportunity. We respectfully urge state leaders to: • Reject any attempts to introduce new congressional or legislative maps during the special session. • Focus solely on practical, transparent solutions to the ballot QR code issue. • Consider extending implementation deadlines rather than forcing costly and confusing statewide changes on all 159 counties in an unrealistic timeframe before the November elections. • Protect voters, election workers, and county officials from unnecessary confusion, expense, and disruption. Georgia voters deserve fair representation, transparent governance, and election procedures that prioritize accessibility, security, and public confidence. We ask Governor Kemp and every member of the Georgia General Assembly to act in the best interests of Georgia’s voters by keeping the special session limited to its stated purpose and rejecting any unnecessary redistricting proposals.
