Expedite Release of Military Suicide Study: Lives Depend on It

2 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

The study on suicides by military job code, as required by Section 599 of the 2023 National Defense Authorization Act, is not just a collection of numbers or a statistical analysis; it is a beacon of hope for those silently suffering within the military community. This study, which was due no later than December 31, 2023, is a tool that can help us understand the depth and breadth of the struggles faced by our service members, and it is a guide that can lead us towards effective solutions. The urgency to expedite the release of this study cannot be overstated. Every day that passes without this vital information is a day that we lose the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our service members. The oversight role of the committee in this matter is crucial. It is not enough to simply acknowledge the problem; we must take active steps to address it. This includes not only expediting the release of the study but also ensuring that the findings are taken into account and that appropriate measures are implemented to address the issues identified. Suicide prevention is not just the responsibility of the military or the government; it is a collective responsibility. The lives of our service members are at stake, and we cannot afford to delay any longer. We owe it to them to do everything in our power to address this issue, and the release of this study is a critical step in that direction. In conclusion, the release of the study on suicides by military job code is not just a bureaucratic process; it is a vital component of our efforts to address the mental health struggles faced by our service members. By expediting its release, we can
