People who fight this hard to hide something have something to hide.
A long-overdue press conference with Epstein/Maxwell victims was held outside the Capitol in DC yesterday. And they spoke to America with courage and the strength of their combined convictions. They will no longer be ignored by powerful people.
Epstein survivors say they will compile their own list of Epstein’s clients. One of them said during the press conference: “Epstein survivors have been discussing creating our own list. We know the names. Many of us were abused by them. Now, together as survivors, we will confidentially compile the names ... it will be done by survivors and for survivors. No one else is involved. Stay tuned for more details.”
And they said they have been threatened individually. The system they thought would protect them has done the opposite. So now they’re taking their fight to we the people.
Rep. Massie filed a discharge petition in the House to force the DOJ to release the files. If it passes, the petition would result in a floor vote on legislation that would require DOJ to release virtually all of its investigative files regarding Epstein/Maxwell.
It will take 218 votes for it to pass. All 212 Democrats are expected to approve it. But will need six Republican votes for passage. Four Republicans have already signed on: Massie, Nancy Mace, Lauren Boebert, and Marjorie Taylor Greene.
Do you really want to be on a list of those who vote against exposing pedophiles?
The Trump WH’s response? They said that anyone who signed on was engaging in a “hostile act.”
Explain that please?
Alex Acosta, former US Attorney in the Southern District of Florida, will testify before the House Oversight Committee on September 19. His sweetheart deal to Epstein has never been scrutinized. Now hopefully questioning by members of Congress will shed some light on why Epstein received such leniency, given the crimes he was charged with.
Epstein is dead; there will be no trial. This is now a congressional oversight investigation into whether DOJ corruptly favored the rich and powerful at the expense of underage girls. Congress is entitled to review materials, Some public release can be justified by the public interest.
At a minimum, the release of information about elected officials who are mentioned in the investigative files could be considered.
But the real kicker? Trump promised to release the investigative files repeatedly during his campaign. Unlike grand jury material, which requires a judge’s permission for release, Trump can order the DOJ to release files by executive fiat.
He has zero problem doing this for other more trivial matters. So why won’t he do so for this?
Don’t you wonder just a little bit?
