An open letter to the U.S. Senate

Block the ban on federal court contempt citations

45 so far! Help us get to 50 signers!

While the list of appalling provisions in the Trump budget reconciliation bill is long, I am writing about one that truly frightens me because it would effectively authorize administration officials to continue thumbing their noses at the Constitution. This — and their horrifying anti-Constitutional actions — must be stopped in the Senate. The proposed restriction on federal court contempt citations literally green lights the administration’s campaign to deprive people of their Constitutional rights. This cannot be allowed to pass into law. I know you share my concern, and I am counting on you to do everything possible to thwart this measure and the Trump-led destruction of our democracy.
