🚨 An Open Letter to the Democrats 🚨
Get off your letter-writing seats and do something—anything—that isn’t just business as usual. Every one of you is still acting like that high school kid who spent their time in Model UN or student government, debating with rehearsed platitudes to score points.
Meanwhile, you—and by extension, the U.S.—are getting steamrolled by a bully who thrives on chaos and doesn’t play by the rules.
The usual playbook isn’t enough. Yes, go to the courts. Yes, file the bills. But understand that these moves are slow and about as effective in the moment as a school principal telling a bully not to steal your lunch—an hour after it already happened. This is a blitz. It’s shock and awe. And you need to keep up.
Get moving. Here’s a list of things you could be doing instead of writing sternly worded letters and clutching your pearls:
- Station field office staff at every single agency and alert the press when key players show up. Keep their movements public until they feel the pressure. Expose the waste and damage they’re causing.
- Read every embarrassing court transcript about Trump and his allies into the congressional record—make it a weekly event. Put it on C-SPAN. Make it a bingo game. Own the narrative.
- Enjoy yourselves while doing this. Bullies hate being mocked. If the GOP wants to stop you, make them own the chamber 24/7. Wear them down. Make them work for every inch.
- Generate a list of every court victory against Trump and use it in every press conference, every interview, every appearance. The moment the GOP tries to spin something, counter it with hard facts.
- Force them to go on record opposing the courts, the police, and the rule of law. Make them say it out loud.
- Get active on social media. If you don’t know how to post a video, learn or step aside for someone who does. Legacy media isn’t where your constituents are. We’re all online, frustrated at your inaction.
Own the news cycle. Every time Trump says something ridiculous, counter with something even bolder—like a bill to officially rename Mar-a-Lago the "House of Derp." If you don’t know what “derp” means, it might be time to retire and let someone more in touch take the reins.
Help the people who can’t retrieve their belongings from USAID offices file police reports for stolen property. Force the state police to confront the federal police. Create a spectacle. Make Trump’s pettiness the headline.
Bottom line: Get up and play the game at their pace. Right now, I have more on the line than your stock portfolios. And yes, I realize this is, in itself, a strongly worded letter—the irony isn’t lost on me. But since that’s how you seem to respond to crises, I’m meeting you where you are.
Now, do something.
