PETITION TO THE ALASKA STATE LEGISLATURE
TO: Members of the Alaska State Legislature
FROM: A Concerned Citizen of Alaska
RE: Demand to Initiate Impeachment Proceedings Against Governor Mike Dunleavy
SUMMARY:
This petition calls upon the Alaska State Legislature to fulfill its constitutional duty by initiating impeachment proceedings against Governor Mike Dunleavy for persistent and willful violations of the Alaska Constitution, breaches of public trust, and failure to uphold the duties of his office.
GROUNDS FOR IMPEACHMENT:
Violation of Alaska Constitution, Article III, Section 16: Governor Dunleavy has repeatedly violated his duty to faithfully execute the laws of the state.
Defiance of Alaska Supreme Court Orders: The Governor refused to comply with Supreme Court rulings regarding unlawful budget vetoes targeting the judiciary, demonstrating willful defiance of judicial authority and the separation of powers.
Misuse of Executive Power: Governor Dunleavy's administration has engaged in targeted political retribution against judges and institutions that uphold the law against his policy agenda.
Collusion and Obstruction: Persistent actions to shield allies, suppress investigations, and engage in partisan manipulation of state boards and commissions, undermining lawful governance.
Breach of Public Trust and Oath of Office: These actions show a sustained pattern of violating his oath to uphold the constitution and laws of Alaska.
REQUEST FOR ACTION:
As a citizen of Alaska, I call upon the members of the Alaska State Legislature to:
Open a formal investigation into the conduct of Governor Mike Dunleavy;
Convene impeachment hearings under the authority granted by Article II, Section 20 of the Alaska Constitution;
Hold Governor Dunleavy accountable through all lawful remedies available, including impeachment and referral for criminal or civil prosecution if warranted.
This petition is supported by publicly documented actions, legal precedents, and the Alaska Supreme Court's findings. The Governor’s repeated and escalating misconduct poses a direct threat to the rule of law and the integrity of Alaska’s democratic institutions.
