CONDEMN THE DEPLOYMENT OF TROOPS IN OUR CITIES NOW!
1 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!
I am writing to demand that you publicly and unequivocally condemn the Trump administration’s ongoing deployment of U.S. troops into American cities.
On October 5, 2025, Trump authorized the deployment of hundreds of National Guard troops to Chicago—an alarming escalation that follows a series of unlawful federal actions. While a federal judge in Oregon has temporarily blocked a similar deployment to Portland, the administration continues to misuse military power as a political weapon against Americans exercising their constitutional rights.
This pattern of militarization is part of a larger and deeply troubling campaign. On September 8, the Supreme Court’s 6–3 ruling removed protections against racially motivated immigration patrols in Los Angeles. Justice Sotomayor, in dissent, warned of a nation where “the Government can seize anyone who looks Latino, speaks Spanish, and appears to work a low-wage job.” That warning is no longer hypothetical—it is happening.
After sending troops to assist deportation operations in Los Angeles and to “crack down” on nonexistent crime in Washington, D.C., Trump signed an August 25 executive order creating specialized National Guard units “trained and equipped to deal with public order issues.” These units are now being deployed in Democrat-led cities under the false pretense of restoring order.
This is not law enforcement—it is political repression. Trump’s attempt to rebrand constitutionally protected protest as “civil unrest” is a calculated assault on the First and Fourth Amendments. The manufactured narrative of an “imaginary crime wave” serves only to justify the intimidation and surveillance of immigrants, unhoused people, and communities of color.
I urge you to take immediate action:
1. Issue a public statement condemning the deployment of National Guard troops in U.S. cities.
2. Introduce or support legislation restricting the use of federal troops for domestic law enforcement.
3. Demand oversight hearings into the executive orders authorizing these actions.
Our democracy depends on leaders willing to defend the rule of law, not bend to fearmongering or authoritarian impulse. Silence is complicity. I ask you to stand on the side of the Constitution and the people you represent.
