An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Fund Healthcare, Not Warfare – End U.S. Military Support for Israel

1,127 so far! Help us get to 2,000 signers!

We demand an immediate halt to all U.S. military aid and arms sales to Israel – and a redirection of those billions to healthcare, housing, and human needs at home. U.S. weapons fuel regional war. Since October 2023, the U.S. has provided $21.7 billion in military aid to Israel – plus over $30 billion on the wider conflict. The Trump administration has approved $12 billion in arms sales in 2025 and over $7 billion more in 2026, including 27,000 bombs and 2,000-pound bombs unsuitable for urban combat. These weapons are used in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen – and in direct war with Iran. U.S. weapons enable human rights abuses. Amnesty International has documented how Israel systematically destroyed high-rise buildings in Gaza, forcibly displacing families. Over 67,000 Palestinians have been killed. U.S. bombs have devastated hospitals, schools, and homes. At home, Americans are suffering. The U.S. spends $3.8 billion annually on military aid to Israel while Americans struggle with healthcare costs, stagnant wages, and crumbling infrastructure. Three in four Republicans under 45 say they would rather fund healthcare at home than send billions to Israel. Meanwhile, Israel provides universal healthcare to its citizens – funded by U.S. tax dollars that could be healing Americans. U.S. militarism comes home. The same weapons and surveillance technologies used abroad are turned against communities here – from police violence against Black and brown Americans, to ICE raids terrorizing immigrant families, to the brutal repression of peaceful protesters. To those who say aid strengthens our ally: Arming a country committing documented war crimes weakens U.S. security and moral standing. To those who say it's too small to matter: $21.7 billion could fund universal school meals, housing for unhoused people, and mental health services for millions. 104 House members – nearly half of Democrats – just voted to cut aid to Israel. Voters are watching. In 2026, we will remember who stood with war – and who stood with our communities.
