Current times are a lot like the times of our Declaration of Independence

Since our Congresspeople are our elected representatives on tariffs and other taxes, we have taxation without representation right now. But the Declaration of Independence included a lot of additional issues that get less attention nowadays. So little, in fact, that this is happening again and many seem to have not noticed. Some more highlights from the Declaration of Independence: Refusing to allow normal government operations until it's gotten the dictator's personal assent "He has endeavoured to prevent the Population of these States; for that Purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their Migrations hither." obstructed justice by refusing conditions to allow the judiciary to hold any power protecting officials from consequences of their crimes "For depriving us, in many Cases, of the Benefits of Trial by Jury:" "For transporting us beyond Seas to be tried for pretended Offences:" Or just imprisoned in concentration camps in other countries for pretended offenses "For cutting off our Trade with all Parts of the World" Instead of "our own Legislatures, declaring themselves invested with Power to legislate for us in all Cases whatsoever." "He has excited domestic Insurrections amongst us" By imposing excessive costs for military (different costs today than previously) and "affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil Power." Such as by pushing through unqualified officers, and removing qualified officers who have not misbehaved. In sum, "In every stage of these Oppressions we have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble Terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated Injury. A Prince, whose Character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the Ruler of a free People."
