Today I’m writing to urge you to support Representative Sara Jacobs bill, the Delete DOGE Act recently introduced.
The legislation would prohibit federal funds from being used for DOGE’s work, as well as rescind funds currently available to DOGE, and funds that have never been approved by Congress.
This bill is a crucial step towards restoring integrity and accountability within the federal government. Elon Musk's fictitious “Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)” has inflicted severe damage through reckless and indiscriminate cuts, undermining essential services that millions of Americans rely and violated the Privacy Act.
The toll of DOGE's actions has been catastrophic, as you know:
⁃ Tens of thousands of federal workers fired without any cause, including those managing nuclear weapons and responding to public health crises like Ebola and bird flu.
⁃ Vital programs have been gutted, from support for African development to staffing the Veterans Affairs suicide crisis hotline.
⁃ All this while Musk's businesses have benefited from billions in untouched federal contracts.
The illegal and unacceptable exploitation of public funds for private profit cannot be allowed to continue. DOGE represents an irresponsible overreach that sacrifices the well-being of the people for misguided austerity measures that are being done in a sloppy, illegal and arbitrary manner.
Defunding this rogue operation through the Delete DOGE Act is an urgent necessity to protect citizens young and old, restore functionality to the government, and reinstate accountability.
Bipartisan support is critical to rein in this assault on public services and prevent further damage. I urge you to work across the aisle to bring this bill to a speedy vote. Every Congressional District has been feeling the chaos and side effects. Act now. Support, co-sponsor and vote YES on the Delete DOGE Act.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
