I am pleading with you to support and pass the Tariff Refunds for Working Families Act.
Families across this country are struggling just to keep their heads above water. The cost of groceries, clothing, school supplies, household goods, and everyday necessities has soared. Many of us are cutting back, skipping purchases, and draining our savings simply to make ends meet. We are drowning under the weight of rising costs.
When the Supreme Court struck down Donald Trump’s tariffs, it left unresolved what should happen to the roughly $166 billion collected from those taxes. The administration has now created a pathway for corporations to receive refunds, but not for the American families who ultimately paid those tariffs every time we checked out at a store.
Economists estimate that the average American family paid at least $1,700 more in higher prices because of these tariffs in just one year. Companies such as Nike, Target, and Walmart passed those costs directly to consumers. Now those same corporations stand to receive billions of dollars in refunds while working families are left with nothing.
The people who bore the burden of these tariffs should not be ignored when refunds are distributed. If billions of dollars are being returned, American workers, seniors, veterans, and families deserve their fair share. We paid the price. We should not be excluded from the relief.
Please stand up for the people you represent. Vote YES on the Tariff Refunds for Working Families Act and fight to ensure that hardworking Americans are not left behind while large corporations collect windfalls.
