Preserve Social Security Offices and Communications Accessiblity

The Trump regime has announced that it plans to cut regional offices of the Social Security Administration by 90%, and move all communications to X, the platform owned by Elon Musk.
First, it is absurd to think that the agency can function well with only 10% of its current staff. It can’t, and there is no way to restructure it so that it can, except to shut it down, which is likely their long-term goal.
Second, moving all communications to one platform is also absurd. No one platform can meet the communication needs of all users, which is why there are options for support via the agency’s website, by letter, by phone, and in-person support at regional offices.
Third, that the platform is X—a social media channel rife with aggression and hate, owned by one of the Trump regime’s backers, is beyond ludicrous. The quid pro quo of the arrangement is insultingly blatant. The government should not even consider such a plan, much less announce that it intends to carry out this plan.
The Social Security Administration must remain fully staffed and fully available to recipients in all of its offices and through all of its means of communication.
