Ukraine Faces Renewed Russian Aggression
I write as a concerned constituent urging you to support ongoing military assistance to Ukraine. Russia’s full-scale assault remains unrelenting—with intensified air strikes and advancing offensives—and U.S. delivery of air defense weapons and critical munitions is being halted just as Ukraine faces one of its most perilous moments.
As detailed in a July 2, 2025, Washington Post editorial titled “Trump’s freeze on Ukraine weapons could bring devastating consequences,” this freeze has put Ukrainian civilians, infrastructure, and front-line defenders at heightened risk. The editorial makes clear that abandoning Ukraine now would not only reward Russian aggression but also weaken U.S. credibility and global security.
American Security Depends on Ukraine’s Defense
Ukraine stands as the frontline defense of democratic values and American security. If Kyiv falls, it will not be just a loss for Ukraine—it will undermine U.S. and NATO deterrence, embolden authoritarian regimes, and dramatically increase the likelihood of future direct threats to NATO allies.
European partners—despite rising defense budgets—cannot fully compensate for U.S. leadership and logistics. A pause in U.S. aid sends a dangerous signal that our commitments are negotiable—and that Russia can win by waiting out American resolve.
U.S. Leadership Is Needed Now
Beyond geopolitical risk, the U.S. has a clear strategic interest in holding the line. Ukraine’s success sets a precedent that aggression against democracies will be met with decisive Western resistance, helping to steer global dynamics in favor of a stable, rules-based order and deterring others, including China and Iran.
Please speak out publicly, hold oversight hearings, and use every tool at your disposal to press for continued and expanded U.S. support for Ukraine. Our leadership—diplomatic, legislative, and moral—is essential. The world is watching. Now is the time to act with clarity and courage.
