Many nominees put forth by the incoming president for numerous cabinet positions and other advisory roles are appalling. It has been suggested that these nominations will serve as a “test” of your loyalty to the president. I encourage you to maintain the important Advisory role of the Senate, as our Constitution demands, and protect your personal and professional integrity as well.
As my Senator, I expect you to vehemently oppose any nominees for whom you have the power of advice and consent, where the nominees are unqualified, compromised, and/or clearly intended to disrupt the services of the functions they will oversee. In particular, we must not allow Pete Hegseth, Tulsi Gabbard, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Russell Vought, Linda McMahon, and Kash Patel to be confirmed.
The Executive Branch is tasked with enforcing the laws enacted by Congress. That duty would be impossible to perform with these unqualified nominees heading up crucial federal agencies. They would put our health, safety, and national security at risk.
