Stop Ohio’s harmful “save act”

I am writing to express my strong opposition to Senate Bill 153 and House Bill 233, which I believe are unnecessary and harmful pieces of legislation. These bills threaten to make it harder for everyday Ohioans to vote without offering any meaningful improvements to our already secure election process. Ohio has long maintained a safe, transparent, and trustworthy voting system. There is no credible evidence to suggest that our elections suffer from widespread fraud or security flaws that would justify the kinds of restrictive measures proposed in SB 153 and HB 233. Instead of protecting voters, these bills risk creating unnecessary barriers to the ballot box—especially for seniors, students, low-income individuals, and communities of color. Our democracy is strongest when every eligible voter can participate freely and fairly. Legislation that limits access to voting undermines this principle and erodes public trust in our democratic institutions. Rather than pursuing bills that suppress turnout, I urge you to focus on policies that encourage civic engagement and make voting more accessible to all Ohioans. Please stand with the people of Ohio and reject SB 153 and HB 233. Our democracy deserves to be strengthened, not weakened. Thank you for your time and service.
