An open letter to State Governors & Legislatures (Ohio only)
Respect the Will of Ohio Voters and Oppose Senate Bill 56
35 so far! Help us get to 50 signers!
I am writing to express my strong opposition to Senate Bill 56 and any efforts to undermine the will of Ohio voters regarding marijuana legalization. As you know, Issue 2 passed in November 2023 with a clear majority, reflecting the desire of Ohioans to establish a regulated and legal cannabis market. However, proposals like Senate Bill 56, which seek to increase taxes and impose restrictive THC limits, directly contradict the intent of the voters and threaten to derail the democratic process.
The passage of Issue 2 was a significant step forward for Ohio, demonstrating widespread support for a system that prioritizes economic growth, public safety, and personal freedom. By attempting to alter key provisions of the law, legislators risk creating a system that fails to meet the needs of Ohioans and disregards the clear mandate delivered at the ballot box.
I urge you to respect the outcome of the election and oppose Senate Bill 56 or any similar legislation that seeks to revise the voter-approved law. If changes are necessary, they should be made through a transparent and inclusive process that prioritizes the voices of Ohioans, not special interests or political agendas.
Thank you for your attention to this critical issue. I trust that you will uphold the principles of democracy and ensure that the will of the voters is honored.
