An open letter to the President & U.S. Congress

Restore Post-Uvalde Bipartisan Mental Health Funding For Kids

20 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

I am writing in strong opposition to the Trump administration’s decision to cut $1 billion in school mental health funding. These grants were created after the Uvalde shooting to help schools hire counselors and psychologists and keep students safe (AP News, May 2025). Youth mental health is in crisis. The CDC reports that suicide is now the second leading cause of death for teens. School shootings, many committed by students in distress, continue to rise. Cutting mental health services now is not just irresponsible, it’s dangerous. Congress must act. Restore these funds immediately and invest in student mental health. Lives depend on it.
