Withhold Blue Slips from All Judicial Nominees: Halt Progress in Senate

Today I take pen in hand to write and urge you to withhold a BLUE SLIP on every one of the president's slate of judicial nominees that belong to our home state, and encourage other states Senators to do the same. Every single one of the current crop of nominees has run into serious opposition from civil rights, judicial review, and other advocates of a fair and unbiased judiciary including unions, teachers, and environmental groups. That’s because they are a threat to the fair application of justice and our laws. In fact, Alliance for Justice President Rachel Rossi put it simply: “He doesn’t want judges who serve the rule of law; he wants judges who serve him and who will enable his wantonly illegal and corrupt personal and political agenda. Among these nominees are attorneys who have already used their power to inject corruption into the rule of law. “ When so many oppose these nominees, it is the duty of every Senator to listen to the organizations and voters of their home states. Each poses a grave threat to the integrity of our federal courts and the rights of all Americans. Nominees like Whitney Hermandorfer, Jordan Pratt, Emil Bove and others have appalling records opposing reproductive rights, LGBTQ equality, and civil rights that cannot be tolerated on the federal bench. We must hold the president accountable for attempting to pack the courts with ideologues who have demonstrated hostility to core constitutional principles. He doesn’t want law. He’s been avoiding it his whole adult life. Our courts must uphold equal justice under the law for all people, not cater to a narrow, discriminatory agenda. I urge you to reject these unacceptable nominees because the people he nominates have NO interest in our fundamental laws. They are fringe thinkers with warped world views, or manifestly corrupt and do not meet accepted judicial standards. We demand judges who will fairly interpret the law and protect the rights of all people in the United States. Withhold the blue slips, slow the process for the federal judges.
