An open letter to the U.S. Congress

But Her Emails!

1 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

I am writing to call you to urgent action regarding the national security breach that included — but was not limited to — participants vice president JD Vance, secretary of defense Pete Hegseth, national security advisor Michael Waltz, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, director of national intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, chief of staff Susie Wiles, CIA director John Ratcliffe, and Homeland Security advisor Stephen Miller. It recently became public knowledge that they participated in a group chat on Signal (a messaging app considered more secure than texting but is not approved for classified matters) to plan tactics in Yemen, and accidentally included Jeffrey Goldberg of The Atlantic. Certainly, you share my horror at the casual treatment of such highly classified data. Make no mistake: including a reporter is a secondary issue only that happened to bring this egregious behavior to light. The primary issue is the use of a commercial app for discussion of classified information. Puzzlingly, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson has dismissed concerns about this since the mission was successful, as has President Trump, although he went further and denied any knowledge. Not only did this chat show gross disregard for national security, but it also violates federal records rules. They then went further and lied to the face of Congress and the nation. This is the same party that had the rallying cry of “Lock her up” for Hillary Clinton’s private email server? As your constituent, I call for the following: 1) Condemn the rampant bypassing of security measures. 2) Propose an investigation into similar occurrences of classified communications. Just because only one became public knowledge doesn’t mean this is the only issue. 3) Be willing to support appropriate disciplinary and criminal actions against involved parties (what would you do if they were democrats?). 4) Call for the resignation of all the group chat participants.
