Reject Dehumanizing Language Targeting Transgender People

The rhetoric framing transgender people as something to be "ended" is not policy language — it is dehumanizing, and I expect you to reject it publicly and unequivocally. Transgender people are constituents, neighbors, and family members. Talking about "ending" them is no different than saying we should "end" left-handed people. It targets an identity, not a behavior. Language like this has real consequences. It signals to bad actors that transgender people are acceptable targets, and it contributes to the documented rise in harassment and violence against transgender individuals. Words from elected officials carry weight. When that weight is used to frame a group of people as a problem to be eliminated, it puts lives at risk. I want to hear you explicitly condemn this framing and commit to language that treats transgender people as full human beings deserving of dignity and legal protection. That is the bare minimum this moment requires.
