We have collectively urged you to DEMAND A CEASEFIRE IN GAZA. According to Data for Progress, a majority of Americans support a ceasefire, and this number only grows as video after video of dead children appear on our timelines. So, beyond the OBVIOUS moral imperatives to do nothing but urge a ceasefire, there are also clear political reasons to support this, as well. And yet, this administration continues to baffle with its unilateral support of Israel’s continued genocidal rampage throughout Gaza - which now includes Rafah, the supposed safe zone and last refuge of over a million civilians. According to Politico as of February 13th, 2024, the “US won’t punish Irasel for [a] Rafah op that doesn’t protect civilians.” They report further: “no reprimand plans are in the works, meaning Israeli forces could enter the city and harm civilians without facing American consequences” and that the US is “going to continue to support Israel…and we’re going to continue to make sure they have the tools and the capabilities to do that.” To do what, exactly? What is the plan? There is absolutely no way to read Israel’s actions in any other way than pure vengeance and total destruction of Gaza and its people. Netanyahu has rejected ceasefire offers to release and free Israeli hostages. There is no credible suggestion at this point that there is any intent or actual care for the hostages who were tragically taken on October 7th, 2023. This is a purely barbaric and disgusting cover for war, bloodlust, and hatred. How many more thousands of Palestinians have to die before you cowards wake up to the various realities, both moral and political, and demand what is just?? CEASEFIRE NOW.
