An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Block the Save Our Bacon Act from the Senate Farm Bill

1 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

Keep the Save Our Bacon Act out of the Senate Farm Bill. This provision is a corporate power grab designed to permanently strip every state in the country of its right to set higher food production standards. California voters passed Proposition 12, the Supreme Court upheld it, and now Big Ag wants Congress to erase that victory with a single legislative maneuver. Smithfield — Chinese-owned and controlling 1 in 4 pigs in the United States — doesn't need more power. Meat monopolies already dominate the food supply. This bill does nothing for everyday farmers or consumers. It would drive independent farmers who use higher-welfare practices out of business and make quality pork so expensive that only wealthy Americans can afford it. That's not a farm bill. That's a corporate subsidy dressed up as policy. Over 12,000 people have already signed on to oppose this. Don't let Big Ag use the Farm Bill to override the will of voters. Vote no on the Save Our Bacon Act.
