Today I take pen in hand to write and request your support for S.2614, the Farmer to Farmer Education Act and or sponsor the act in the new Congress. This bill would compensate farmers that would teach and mentor other new and younger farmers about best practices. One such example is soil health. According to Andrew Bahrenburg, former Deputy Director of American Farmland Trust, said in an article published by Civil Eats: “The best soil health tests you can get out in the field are from farmers who have . . . experimented with implementing new practices” We agree. These programs can also help all farmers more quickly adopt regenerative and other tillage practices to make agriculture a better business in this 21st century…at a time when new practices are badly needed. Please support S.2614 for California’s farmers and the rest of the country. Thank you.
