Stop Unjustified Deportations Violating Civil Liberties and Human Rights

The Trump administration's actions to deport Badar Khan Suri, a Georgetown University researcher legally residing in the U.S. on a student visa, are highly concerning. Suri has not been charged with any crime and has no criminal record, yet he was seized by masked federal agents outside his home and informed his visa is being revoked under a rarely used provision allowing deportation of non-citizens deemed a threat to U.S. foreign policy. This appears to be based solely on his wife's Palestinian heritage and the accusation that they oppose U.S. support for Israel – which should not be grounds for deportation from a nation built by immigrants. This case seems to be part of Trump's vowed efforts to "find, apprehend, and deport...terrorist sympathizers," despite no evidence Suri has any ties to terrorism. Deporting law-abiding residents and scholars like Suri based on their nationalities, religions or political views is antithetical to American values of freedom, due process and human rights. It is unacceptable for the government to be "abducting people" in this manner. I urge you to use your authority to stop these unjustified deportations targeting certain ethnic groups, protect the civil liberties of all residents, and ensure the human rights of every person in America are respected.
