I am writing as a deeply concerned constituent about the grave threats to public health and scientific progress under Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s tenure as Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS). His leadership has been marked by reckless attacks on science, dangerous misinformation, and harmful budget decisions that put American lives at risk.
Kennedy has stalled biomedical research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), while further slashing budgets and terminating critical studies—including the largest NIH project focused on women’s health. Entire HHS agencies have been gutted or targeted for elimination, weakening our ability to fight infectious diseases, address substance use disorders, and respond to emerging health threats.
Equally alarming is Kennedy’s campaign of vaccine misinformation and his decision to defund childhood vaccination programs, even as preventable measles outbreaks spread. His false statements about autism—that it is preventable, and that people with autism or other disabilities cannot live meaningful lives—are not only offensive but dangerously dehumanizing. Furthermore, his push for a massive “autism registry” threatens to misuse private health data to promote his own discredited beliefs.
Kennedy’s actions are undermining scientific integrity, crippling our public health infrastructure, and directly endangering American families. At a time when we should be advancing research and strengthening preparedness, we are instead sliding backward under his leadership.
I urge you to act decisively:
- Publicly condemn Kennedy’s misinformation and attacks on science.
- Demand congressional oversight hearings into his policies and budget cuts.
- Work to block the elimination of vital HHS programs and restore funding for lifesaving research and vaccinations.
The health and safety of millions of Americans depends on strong, science-driven leadership at HHS. Kennedy has proven he is unwilling and unfit to provide it. Please take urgent action to hold him accountable.
