The Honor of the United States Is on the Line - Act for Afghan Allies

A Humanitarian Crisis Worsened by U.S. Inaction More than 250,000 Afghan allies—interpreters, drivers, humanitarian workers, and others who supported U.S. military and diplomatic efforts—remain stranded in third countries, most notably the United Arab Emirates. Although the United States is not directly deporting these individuals, our failure to follow through on promised resettlement has led host countries to begin deporting them back to Taliban-controlled Afghanistan, where they face persecution, imprisonment, or execution. These individuals were told they would be brought to safety in the United States. But under the Trump Administration, the U.S. halted funding for charter evacuation flights, shut down the CARE Office, and allowed a dramatic slowdown in visa and parole processing. Our allies have been left in legal limbo—abandoned not by hostile powers, but by the very nation they risked their lives to serve. This Is a Crisis of National Honor The United States gave these Afghans its word. To now allow them to be expelled—by our silence, delay, or defunding—is a stain on our credibility and a blow to future alliances. It is dishonorable to let other countries deport the very people we pledged to protect. We cannot allow promises made under the American flag to be broken. Congress Must Act Now I respectfully urge you to: 1. Publicly speak out against deportations by third countries and demand immediate resettlement action from the Trump Administration. 2. Hold oversight hearings to examine the shutdown of the CARE Office and the collapse in evacuation and resettlement efforts. 3. Pass urgent legislation to offer expedited permanent residency pathways and legal protections. 4. Restore funding for charter flights, case management, and interagency coordination. 5. Use diplomatic and financial leverage to prevent host countries from deporting Afghans promised U.S. protection.
