Protect seniors' healthcare autonomy, reject Medicare Advantage reform bill

The proposed Medicare Advantage reform bill (H.R. 3467) raises significant concerns about limiting choice and flexibility for older Americans. Automatically enrolling hundreds of thousands of seniors into the cheapest Medicare Advantage plan without their input, and locking them into that plan for three years, undermines individual autonomy and access to preferred healthcare providers. This approach treats seniors as captive consumers rather than empowered patients. While cost savings may be a motivation, restricting plan options and provider networks for a three-year period is an unacceptable trade-off that could disrupt continuity of care and compromise health outcomes, particularly for those with chronic conditions requiring specialized treatment. A corporate-driven system that removes choice and mobility is antithetical to patient-centered care. Instead of limiting options, reforms should expand affordable, high-quality Medicare plans and strengthen protections to ensure seniors can easily switch plans to access the doctors and services they need. Healthcare decisions should be made between patients and their physicians, not dictated by a one-size-fits-all policy that benefits corporate interests over the well-being of our nation's elders. I urge you to reject this misguided approach and prioritize proposals that truly put seniors first.
