These incidents demand immediate scrutiny and action from all members of Congress. On July 29, Israeli far-right protesters, soldiers, and MKs rallied outside Beit Lid for guards suspected of raping a Palestinian detainee. The article from +972 Magazine states: A group of masked soldiers carrying weapons stood out in the crowd. The soldiers came to Beit Lid to support and demand the release of ten of their comrades who had been arrested on suspicion of raping a Palestinian detainee at Sde Teiman. The detainee, according to Physicians for Human Rights – Israel was hospitalized three weeks ago with severe injuries to his rectum. A CNN exposé detailed horrific abuses, including gang rape by soldiers, electric shocks, and extreme physical and psychological violence. These acts are part of a systematic culture of abuse supported by Israeli officials. CNN: They paint a picture of a facility where doctors amputated prisoners’ limbs due to injuries sustained from constant handcuffing; of medical procedures performed by underqualified medics earning it a reputation for being “a paradise for interns”; and where the air is filled with the smell of neglected wounds left to rot. CBS News: Lawmaker Hanoch Milwidsky was asked as he defended the alleged abuse whether it was legitimate, "to insert a stick into a person's rectum?"
