Protect LGBTQ Youth - Pass SB 934!

I am writing to urge you to take immediate action to protect LGBTQ+ youth in California by strengthening our laws against conversion therapy and supporting SB 934. The recent Supreme Court decision ruling against Colorado’s conversion therapy law does not legitimize this practice. Conversion therapy remains dangerous, unethical, and condemned by every major medical and mental health organization. It is still linked to increased rates of depression, anxiety, trauma, and suicide attempts among LGBTQ youth. While the Court limited certain preventive regulations, it made clear that civil accountability remains intact. Survivors can still pursue malpractice claims, consumer fraud actions, and professional discipline. SB 934, introduced by California State Senator Scott Wiener, is a critical response. It strengthens survivors’ ability to seek justice by expanding access to malpractice claims and extending the statute of limitations for those harmed as children. California has long been a leader in protecting LGBTQ+ people, especially young people who are most vulnerable. I urge you to reaffirm that leadership by supporting SB 934 and advancing policies that hold abusers accountable and make clear that conversion therapy has no place in ethical health care. Our youth deserve safety, dignity, and protection. Thank you for your leadership and for standing on the side of science, compassion, and justice.
