Within hours of the shooting, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem publicly declared that Good had committed an act of domestic terrorism and tried to ram officers with her vehicle. Vice President JD Vance later claimed without evidence that Good was influenced by a leftist network and called her death a tragedy of her own making. This rush to judgment before any investigation was complete undermines the integrity of the investigative process and erodes public trust in federal law enforcement. The administration's priorities are deeply troubling. President Trump has publicly expressed concern for Iranian protesters and their treatment abroad, yet his administration has shown no similar concern for American citizens like Renee Good. When protesters are killed on American soil by federal officers, the response should not be immediate character assassination and unsubstantiated terrorism accusations. American lives deserve the same protection and concern that this administration extends to protesters overseas. Even administration allies and former ICE officials have expressed alarm at this approach. John Sandweg, who led ICE from 2013 to 2014, stated that whatever outcome the investigation produces, he does not see how anyone will believe it when the secretary has already firmly doubled down on a conclusion without knowing all the facts. An administration official acknowledged the shooting as highly problematic and not something our government should be remotely engaged in. Minnesota state officials have accused federal law enforcement of stymying their investigation into this shooting. This pattern of federal interference, combined with premature declarations of terrorism, suggests an attempt to control the narrative rather than pursue truth and accountability. I am asking you to demand an independent investigation into the shooting death of Renee Good, free from DHS interference. Federal officers must be held to the highest standards of accountability, and families deserve answers that are not predetermined by political considerations.
