An open letter to the President

Suspend Your Candidacy for President and Let Someone Else Represent Us

1 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

As the unrelenting indiscriminate and unapologetic killing of civilians in Gaza continues unabated with the unwavering support of you and your administration, it has become clear to me that I can no longer support your candidacy for president in 2024. Let me be clear. I want a Democrat in the White House. But I cannot support your being that person. You are personally complicit in the war crimes being committed daily by the IDF. I will not vote for someone who supports such war crimes, no matter what the historical relationship between our countries and its leaders may have been in the past. I will be voting in 2024, but if you are the Democratic candidate for president I will, with great sorrow but grim determination, not vote for president. If that means the Republican candidate wins, so be it. I beg you instead — for the good of the country and for the good of the party you claim to love — SUSPEND YOUR CANDIDACY AND LET SOMEONE ELSE REPRESENT US, someone who truly stands up for the oppressed and marginalized and who vigorously opposes hatred in all its forms, no matter who the target.
