Abandon inhumane "Speedway Slammer" immigration detention plan

The proposed "Speedway Slammer" plan to detain up to 1,000 immigrant detainees at the Correctional Facility in Indiana is deeply concerning. Incarcerating individuals over immigration status alone raises serious ethical and human rights issues. Imprisoning people who have not been convicted of crimes beyond civil immigration violations is unjust and inhumane. This draconian approach will only breed more fear and mistrust within immigrant communities. Rather than expanding detention capacity, efforts should be focused on creating a fair and humane immigration system that upholds due process and human dignity. The "Speedway Slammer" plan must be abandoned in favor of more ethical and compassionate solutions. Immigration enforcement should be carried out through legal processes, not by warehousing vulnerable people in prison-like facilities. I urge you to reconsider this punitive policy and explore alternative approaches that respect the humanity of all people.
