Regardless of political affiliation, this raises a fundamental concern: when enormous financial resources can be deployed at the eleventh hour, they can overshadow grassroots support, distort messaging, and ultimately tilt the playing field. This is not how a representative democracy should function. The best candidate—the one with the strongest ideas, the deepest commitment to public service, and the broadest support among constituents—should not be at a disadvantage simply because they lack access to extreme wealth or powerful donors.
