Investigate and Reform Campaign Finance After Musk's $158 Million Senate Buy

Investigate the Senate Leadership Fund's coordination with Texas PAC and push for comprehensive campaign finance reform before one billionaire's checkbook permanently replaces the democratic process.
In September, Elon Musk gave $158 million to the Senate Leadership Fund, which immediately funneled that money into Texas PAC to flood the airwaves against James Talarico. In a single month, Musk gave Ken Paxton more money than Talarico's entire campaign has raised from 1.3 million donors since September 2025. Ninety-seven percent of those donors gave $100 or less. That contrast tells you everything about whose voices are being amplified and whose are being drowned out.
As Public Citizen's Lisa Gilbert put it, "The current state of our campaign finance system allows one billionaire to supply the overwhelming share of a major party's political funding. This is undemocratic and flat-out wrong." Musk also runs companies with major facilities in Texas, raising serious questions about what he expects in return. A system where one person can spend $158 million to install a friendly attorney general into the US Senate is not a democracy. It is a transaction. Fix it.
