Support a Moratorium on Carbon Capture Infrastructure

The current federal support for carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) technologies is concerning. These technologies, repurposed from "clean coal" promises, are not a viable solution to climate change. Instead, they allow corporations, which have significantly contributed to climate change, to profit from building unproven and ineffective infrastructure. Most captured carbon in the United States is used for enhanced oil recovery, resulting in more carbon emissions than it stores. The 45Q carbon capture tax credit lacks proper oversight, and Wall Street's involvement in profiting from CCS subsidies is alarming. Instead of investing billions into false solutions and supporting fossil fuel corporations, we should focus on a rapid transition to a 100% renewable energy system. Therefore, I urge you to support a moratorium on carbon capture infrastructure.
