An open letter to State Governors & Legislatures (Texas only)
Texans Are Scared and Fed Up with Unconstitutional Gerrymandering!
69 so far! Help us get to 100 signers!
I am writing as a proud but deeply worried Texan to tell you plainly: people across this state are scared about what gerrymandering is doing to our democracy. We see our communities carved up like political chess pieces, and we know it’s not about fair representation—it’s about power, plain and simple.
This isn’t just politics as usual. It’s unconstitutional, it violates the Voting Rights Act, and it shreds the very idea that every Texan’s voice should count equally. When lawmakers redraw district lines to protect themselves or their party, they’re not governing—they’re silencing. Families find themselves split between districts, neighborhoods are divided, and entire communities lose their voice in Austin.
And the waste is infuriating. Millions of taxpayer dollars are drained into legal fights over these rigged maps—money that could be fixing our roads, funding our schools, improving healthcare, or lowering property taxes. Texans are tired of watching our money used to prop up political games instead of solving real problems.
We want competitive elections and fair maps, not lines designed in back rooms to keep politicians safe from accountability. If our leaders truly believe in their vision, they should trust the people of Texas to decide—not hide behind manipulated maps.
I urge you to reject every gerrymandered map and push for an independent, nonpartisan redistricting process. We deserve a government that serves us—not one that chooses its voters before the voters can choose it.
