I am writing to urge you to take a clear and unwavering stand: the United States must not allow Donald Trump—or any American leader—to hand Vladimir Putin victories he has not earned. Russia alone started this brutal, illegal war in Ukraine. Putin is 100% guilty for the bloodshed, the atrocities, and the destruction. The only acceptable outcome is for Russia to fully retreat, end its occupation, and leave Ukraine in peace.
There must be no concessions, no trade-offs, and no legitimization of Russia’s crimes. Anything less than full accountability would reward aggression and betray the principles of sovereignty and freedom that America claims to defend. Putin is a war criminal. He has slaughtered civilians, abducted children, and trampled international law. To even entertain negotiations on his terms is to normalize war crimes and embolden dictators everywhere.
That is why Donald Trump’s behavior is so dangerous. Why is he literally rolling out the red carpet for Vladimir Putin, a war criminal who has murdered innocents and invaded a democratic neighbor? Why is he undermining U.S. support for Ukraine, NATO unity, and America’s credibility as a defender of democracy? Congress cannot stand idly by while a former president sides with a dictator over a free nation fighting for survival.
The United States must send a message that tyranny will never be rewarded. I urge you to strengthen, not weaken, support for Ukraine. Push for harsher sanctions, faster delivery of weapons, and unwavering diplomatic pressure until Russia completely surrenders its illegal claims and withdraws its forces.
Anything less risks repeating the mistakes of history, when appeasement only fueled greater wars. Ukraine’s fight is the world’s fight—and America must be on the right side of it.
