Hitler likened the Jews to rats. The United States likened the Japanese to monkeys. The Jim Crow south likened Blacks to apes. All throughout history, fascists have used allusions to animals and subhumans to brainwash the general public into looking at entire races of people as “less than.” When we allow this to occur, we heighten the probability of leaders being able to lead the charge against the marginalized. Once again we have a leader (Trump) likening human beings to animals. He is leading a charge against people of color. Your silence is violence. Speak out against ICE. Speak out against warehousing human beings in cages.
