Demand EPA enforce PFAS drinking water standards NOW

The EPA's recent decision to delay enforcement of drinking water limits on PFOA, PFOS, and four other PFAS compounds is deeply concerning. These "forever chemicals" have been linked to serious health issues like cancer, and contaminate drinking water systems across the country.
Despite evidence of their dangers during both the Trump and Biden administrations, the EPA now plans to postpone enforcing limits until 2031 and is reconsidering protections for several PFAS entirely. This reversal disregards the well-being of communities like those in North Carolina, where the Cape Fear River was polluted by the chemical GenX. Residents there continue grappling with PFAS-contaminated drinking water and are rightly outraged at the lack of meaningful regulation.
Furthermore, the EPA is hampering its own ability to study these toxic compounds by terminating over $15 million in PFAS research grants and imposing restrictions on agency scientists. How can they claim to "follow the science" while actively undermining scientific efforts?
I urge you to demand the EPA enforce its previously established drinking water standards for PFAS without further delay. Prioritizing industry interests over public health is unacceptable when clear evidence shows the risks these chemicals pose. Please fight for the safety of our communities and drinking water supplies.
