I am writing to demand moral clarity, strategic leadership, and the courage to say publicly what the entire world already knows: Russia started this brutal, unnecessary war in Ukraine — and Russia alone can end it. There is nothing complicated about this truth. If Russia wants peace, it must retreat. Fully. Completely. Without conditions.
For years, the United States has stood as a global defender of sovereignty, democracy, and the rule of law. Yet today, too many of our leaders hesitate to speak plainly about the single cause of this conflict: Vladimir Putin’s unlawful invasion of a sovereign nation. Ukraine did not ask for this war. Ukraine did not provoke it. Russia crossed the border, Russia shelled cities, Russia displaced families — and Russia continues to escalate.
YOU must demonstrate unwavering resolve. The world needs to hear one unified, unmistakable American message:
If Russia wants to end this war, it must withdraw every last soldier from Ukrainian territory.
Silence is not leadership. Ambiguity is not strategy. The United States cannot — and must not — signal that aggression pays. Standing up to Russia is not “taking sides”; it is standing on the side of international law, human rights, and basic decency.
I urge you to speak boldly, act decisively, and reaffirm that the United States will never legitimize territorial conquest through violence. Russia started this war. Russia can end it. And the first step is obvious: Get out of Ukraine.
The world is watching what America chooses to stand for. Choose courage.
