You cannot work with a government that unpersons trans people

Whatever else has been happening, and happening rapidly, since Trumpists took control of all three branches of the Federal government, it's important to me that my Representative and my Senators understand one, critical thing that immediately distinguishes this term from his previous one, and that underscores that politics as usual is insufficient to the task. To wit: the elimination of information and data regarding transgender and nonbinary Americans from government sources and resources is an attempt to unperson an entire class of Americans, citizens and noncitizens alike. To quote Wikipedia's entry for Newspeak, as developed by George Orwell in his novel 1984: "In the case of unperson, the 'un' indicates that the person (officially) never existed (or, in other words, never was a person)." This is fascism. In and of itself, even before any other steps taken on this or any other issue of pressing concern, this is fascism. You cannot in good conscience work with a government that seeks to unperson an entire class of already-marginalized people. The old political rules no longer hold. The Democratic Party must act and operate as a true opposition party, not as a Vichy one. It bears repeating ad infinitum: any attempt by a government to leverage the force of that government, which includes the erasure of government information and data, in order to unperson any group of Americans renders that government one with which you simply cannot work. Obstruct, oppose, interfere, and impede. This administration must be stopped.
