Nothing suspicious going on here.
The White House is saying that Musk’s cutting government programs and reducing workforce is to uproot waste, fraud, and abuse.
At least five inspectors general at agencies that were investigating Musk's companies have been fired by the Trump (he/him) administration. This includes Larry Turner of the Department of Labor and Eric Soskin of the Department of Transportation (DOT). Both departments had multiple investigations into Tesla and SpaceX.
Several FDA employees who were reviewing Musk's brain implant company, Neuralink, were recently fired as part of DOGE's cost-cutting measures. No, that’s not suspicious either.
Muskrat has aimed his crosshairs at the SEC, a move that flies in the face of Donald Trump’s denials claiming that the Tesla CEO had no conflicts of interest as he embarks on a federal firing and cost-cutting crusade there too. However the SEC is currently targeting him – and fined him $22 million for security violations in a past case regarding his Twitter purchase.
The Washington Post and CNN separately reported on Monday that DOGE agents seeking to implement cost-cutting efforts at the IRS and are currently seeking access to a sensitive system that includes the personal data of American taxpayers, including Social Security numbers and bank accounts.
Now he’s over at NASA, you know the competitor to SpaceX.
Nope, nothing nefarious is going on. We can certainly trust Musk with access to all of that data. Riiight.
But remember, Elon Musk is not actually in charge of the so-called Department of Government Efficiency, according to a Monday court filing.
