An open letter to the President & U.S. Congress

Reconsider gutting HIV prevention programs - disastrous consequences

6 so far! Help us get to 10 signers!

The Trump administration's proposed elimination of federal funding for HIV prevention programs would have catastrophic consequences, undermining decades of progress in combatting the epidemic. This dangerous move jeopardizes the health and well-being of communities nationwide, regardless of sexual orientation. Scientific advancements have brought HIV prevention to a pivotal point, with groundbreaking options like long-acting PrEP expanding access. However, this opportunity to drive prevention efforts forward is being squandered. Cutting these vital initiatives will inevitably lead to increased HIV transmission rates, greater economic strain from rising healthcare costs, and needless loss of life. As public health experts emphasize, prevention saves lives and contributes to economic productivity across society. Abandoning HIV prevention is illogical from both a health and fiscal standpoint. This misguided decision cannot be justified and demands reconsideration to safeguard public welfare.
