Greetings. I am a voting constituent in rural west Texas.
Momentum. That’s what we’re seeing with the January 6 committee. Every day some new teaser appears. It’s apparent they have the goods. And are close to showing the goods to the American people.
My pondering today is on members of Congress, who always profess having nothing to hide, but when push comes to shove, always run for cover.
Today it’s Jim Jordan. Complete Trump sycophant. Promoter of the Big Lie more than most. Involved to what degree he won’t say in the events leading up to January 6.
He’s got nothing to hide. So why doesn’t he want to tell his side of the story? We’d all like to hear what he has to say.
But I expect he’ll get to go the way of all the other folks ignoring requests to help the country understand what happened that day. With no consequences. Professing to their graves that it’s all a political witch hunt, aimed at them directly. Aggrieved. Whining. Blameless.
It’s a sad state of affairs that just saying no continues to be the go to for bad actors who may have attempted, are continuing to attempt, to overthrow the 2020 election…and perhaps more elections to come.
It seems you’re more likely to be held accountable for shoplifting than subversion…depending on who you are of course.
But the court of public opinion often has more impact in the long run. And every coward who worked behind the scenes against our democracy, who now cries foul at having to explain their actions, will hopefully experience the full condemnation and outrage they will deserve.
We will see them all.
